Target Wednesday After Hours at The Frost Art Museum Miami 9/12

Target Wednesday After Hours

September 12, 2012 | 6pm to 9pm

Join us for the opening reception of two new exhibitions and the annual Fall Arts Preview:
Out of the Ordinary Geometry by Lydia Azout, calls for the viewer to momentarily suspend the demands of the everyday, to interact on an emotional basis with the sculptural forms. The large-scale, site-specific work is multi-media and constructed out of different types of steel and projections. This exhibit is about the cosmos, Sacred Geometry, the unknown, the mysterious and the magical. Curated by Rebeca Schapiro.
The Faculty Show is an annual FIU exhibition of the Art & Art History Department, this year featuring Tori Arpad-Cotta’s long, lovely portage, and R.F. Buckley's Reflections on Water.
long, lovely portage by Tori Arpad-Cotta
Tori Arpad-Cotta continues her attention to place and practice in long, lovely portage, an installation of projected video, hand-bound books and cast Egyptian paste in which presence and absence mingle. The rhythms of South Florida waterways and substance of its sand and soil provide the locale for a meditation on the space between things.
Reflections on Water by R.F. Buckley
R.F. Buckley’s attempt with aluminum is to present a touchstone to access a few of our stored memories and experiences with water. The most recent iteration attempts to recall reflected light off of water, the movement of water and the fluidity of its changing states.
Fall Arts Preview: FIU's College of Architecture + The Arts, The Wolfsonian-FIU, and The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum present a preview of FIU's upcoming art season.
The evening will include guided museum tours, light refreshments and music by FIU’s Radiate FM.
